This is just a short list of questions we’ve been asked. Feel free to email us at email@example.com if you don’t see information that you’re looking for.
Q: Are you REALLY going to give money from every registration to any nonprofit that the runner chooses?
A: Yes, we are. As long as they are:
- A Guidestar registered 501-c-3
- Fit within our Values Statement
Q: Why does our nonprofit need to register with Guidestar?
A: Guidestar is the GOLD STANDARD for nonprofit verification.
Q: If we have a team, do we all need to run or walk?
A: Nope. Half your team can run, half can walk, and if you are in a city with a 10K option, some can run that, too! It doesn’t matter to us, we just want to see you on race day!
Q: What if I get injured and can’t run?
A: We’ve all been there. Too many times to count. You can transfer your bib up until the specified event deadline (different for each event) or you can consider your unused registration as support for your nonprofit and the Cause + Event Foundation. But let us know, just email firstname.lastname@example.org and we’ll take care of you.
Q: What if I live out of town, can I register and run for a cause that isn’t in on of your race locations?
A: You bet! Every race has a cause. No race has every cause…until now. And we mean it! Just make sure they are Guidestar registered. We’d love to have you! And you can also run our virtual event!
Q: Is this event stroller friendly?
A: Yes! We are all about creating a family friendly event. Our only request for the safety of all runners and strollers is that strollers line up according to their pace. If you run sub 8’s while pushing a double, line up with your peeps.
Q: If you give money to the nonprofits, where does the rest of the money go?
A: Short answer: It pays for the costs of the race. We are a 100% volunteer run organization (for now). Our costs include permit fees, traffic flagging, bibs, chip timing, shirts, porta-potties, insurance and so much more.
Note: There’s no one getting paid to put this event on. And, to put things in perspective for you, many races promise 10% of net proceeds to the cause/s. For us, that would end up to be about $3 per registration. Instead, we give as much as we can, to as many as we can, as transparently as we can.
